Our plans for the orchard are continuing to develop. At the centre of the orchard, there will be an open space, surrounded by 7 large apple trees most closely associated with Histon, Impington, Cottenham and Cambridge. This space will be large enough for schools to use as an outdoor classroom.

Last September a group of us gathered the apples from the orchard at IVC as part of our juicing weekend. Fortunately the HICOP group have been given the opportunity to take on the responsibility of care and maintenance of these lovely 50 year old Lord Lambourne trees.
While not about apples or the orchard project, we thought this offer for the village was worth bringing to your attention. Also, please note that HICOP will receive money from the project for every home that takes this offer up.
We will be holding our inaugural AGM on Wednesday, 25 January at 7:30 PM in the Brackenbury room at Impington Village College. As well as electing the management committee it will be an opportunity to discuss future plans for the Orchard.
The East of England Apples and Orchards Project is a local charity that works to preserve and promote orchard fruits. It grows stock of about 250 varieties of fruit trees that come from Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
