HICOP Feast stall 2012

We would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who took time out of their day to come and visit our stall at the Histon Feast. We talked to hundreds of you throughout the day – so many that some of us thought our voices might give out.

There was a great deal of interest in the plans for the orchard and the best part of 50 people signed up to volunteer help with the next stages of the project (if you’re interested please sign up to volunteer). We also had a vote on the stall to choose the best trees for Phase Two of planting, with people choosing their favourites from a collection of 15 local heritage varieties of apple, pear, plum, and cherry tree.

Fundraising tree

We had an eye-catching money tree to display our fundraising efforts to date (we’ve reached £5,800 already) and we’d like to say thank you to all those who put money in the collection boxes during the day and helped us to raise almost £130 more toward the total.

We also had a low table where children were encouraged to draw fruit on trees, resulting in some interesting combinations!

All told, it was a wonderful day for all of HICOP and we look forward to seeing many of you again when the digging starts.
