Hedging from the Woodland Trust
We have had some good news from the Woodland Trust. We will receive a free tree pack from them as part of their Jubilee Year planting scheme. The pack should be enough to plant about 120 metres of hedging. That should be roughly enough to hedge the arc of the orchard across the field (as shown in the image to the right).
We should be getting delivery of the pack around the second week of November. Ours is a wildlife pack that will include:
- Hawthorn
- Blackthorn
- Hazel
- Silver Beech
- Rowan
- Common Oak
HICOP is obviously delighted to be getting one of the packs. We will probably be appealing for volunteers to come and help with the preparation and planting as we get nearer the time. If you have signed up as a volunteer, you’ll be hearing from us as and when we know the dates.
