Advance notice of works
Great news! Work on the orchard is about to start in earnest over the next couple of months.
We have a wildflower meadow to plant, boundary hedging to put in, and some fencing to put up to protect the hedge in the early years.
We’re looking into getting some mechanical help with the initial stages of rotovating, but then we will require a lot of manual help. There’s somewhere around 250m of hedging and fence work to be done and some large areas of meadow to be planted. We’re hoping to get the schools involved with our “meadow in a tray” scheme, but there will still be an enormous area to cover.
Provisional dates for the hedging work are 16th, 17th, and 18th November for the hedging work and 23rd, 24th, and 25th November for the fencing work. Please note that these dates are provisional at this stage and much depends on the availability of men with large machines to get the preparation work done.
If you’d like to get involved in any of this, please get in touch with us through the contact form on the Volunteering page.
